Performance & Drivability:
Ignis is packed with a 1.2 Liter petrol engine and a 1.3 Liter Diesel engine while the Datsun Go gives you an only option of  the 1.2 Liter petrol engine. The petrol powered Ignis features Maruti Suzuki's contemporary K-series petrol motor putting out 84 bhp of power and 113 Nm of torque. This petrol powered Ignis indeed is a fun to drive car. It renders sufficient power delivery producing marvelous low and mid range and goes zipping through the traffic scenes. The tremendous power to weight ratio and lustrous 5-speed manual transmission alleviate its promptness to cruise and helps in easy overtakes on the Highways.
Datsun Go's engine specifications would seem fragile on paper but performs relatively better in real world scenarios. The Micra derived 1.2 Liter will surely surprise you as it feels vivacious to drive and capable enough to showcase sizzling discharge of potential. Short gear ratios in the Datsun will definitely give you good drive-ability in stop and go traffic and its significantly made for it. Though the real problem starts when there are four people on-board and loss of torque could be encountered, the engine begins to loose its calmness pushing you to make frequent downshifts for overtaking.
The game goes different with Ignis as it pulls more energetically despite bearing passenger and boot loads.

Space & Comfort:
Both Ignis and Datsun Go are evenly matched in accounting space for their occupants and thus proffer plenteous space for at least five occupants where Datsun Go holds an edge for extra space due to its longer stance and wheelbase than the Ignis. It also has an auxiliary space at front seats between the driver and co-passenger as the gear lever is integrated on the dash and the unusual placement of Hand-brake evenly accommodate an extra space likely for a kid. The two tone interior looks attractive on the Ignis with neat layouts whereas the dull interiors of Datsun Go gives enough evidence of cost-cutting proposition. The build quality is basic with frequent use of plastics all around and it could have been much better. The seat fabric is on a harder side and will not please you with its comfort level, lacking back support at rear seats unlike Ignis which has got upright seats offering tremendous serenity and composure without letting you feel exhausted due to its well cushioned seats and ample of glass area for improved airiness inside the cabin. Though the amount of knee and head room in both remains sufficient only for average sized occupants as it might be a task to habituate the 6-footers out there.

Ride Quality & Handling:
Ignis is way ahead of Datsun Go in terms of dynamics as its got stiff suspension set-up improving its handling and provides much pliant ride quality. Even with tall boy design of Ignis, it doesn't posses any noticeable body roll. The steering feels very light and crisp while driving in the city and becomes heavy around corners making confident turns without slipping along the road. On the downside, sometimes even the minimal bumps could shake you inside if you go past over them in speed without noticing. On other hand , Datsun go has imposing ride quality, especially for the class with its well laid out chassis, longer wheelbase and is quite an achievement for Datsun. The suspension is well tuned and it glides through unwanted undulations and potholes without letting you feel any of them. The Steering feels disengaged and lacks in providing confidence to the driver as the main reason behind this are its skinny thirteen inches tyres which also led to some serious amount of body-roll. Ignis also holds better stopping capability than Datsun Go due to presence of ABS and EBD that misses out on Datsun Go. Though both have discs at front the Go's brake lack the bite required in them specially when you want to halt down suddenly from higher speeds, the tyres start to skid and eventually loose their path.

Nissan is globally famous for their reliability but haven't acquired the spot in Indian market where Maruti-Suzuki excels since years.Though Nissan is working continuously to improve services and quality of its subsidiary brand Datsun. Maruti's broad expansion of service networks across the country is highly praiseworthy while Nissan needs a lot of improvement in this sector. The service cost of Maruti-Suzuki is much lesser than any of its rivals and offers peace of mind service to its buyers. The customer base of Maruti-Suzuki is the leading in country and getting more stronger over the years while their resale value being on top in the market.

The Ignis is brand new product in the market and comes loaded with expedient as well as safety features under the price segment of five lakh rupees. It has got variety of better attributes to choose over any of its competitors, feels very lively to drive, got enough space and moreover carrying the brand influence of Maruti-Suzuki. Datsun Go is all about practicality with most basic, simple and sorted features accompanied by various cost cutting ethics for those who can live with it and just want a conveyance to move from one place to other without worrying about performance and dynamics. There's a simple decision that a buyer can make, about whether they want performance and features or better practicality because its all about saving your money if you make up your mind for Datsun Go.
